STORY OF THE MONTH

Big Box Retailer – Winston-Salem, NC – November 5

A suspect targeted a big-box retailer in Winston-Salem, stealing jewelry valued at nearly $65,000. Among the stolen items was a concealed Jewelry Tracker, which activated and provided law enforcement with real-time location updates. The tracker guided officers to a stationary location, where the suspect was apprehended, and the full value of the stolen jewelry was recovered. This remarkable recovery prevented a significant loss, protected the retailer’s brand, and prevented future crimes by arresting the criminal.

Convenience Store – Houston, TX – November 8

Full Recovery and 3 Arrests

Three suspects targeted a convenience store in Houston, stealing cash and a concealed Cash Tracker. The suspects fled the scene in a stolen vehicle, prompting law enforcement to begin tracking the device. The tracker provided real-time updates, guiding deputies to the suspects’ vehicle while driving through residential neighborhoodsThe pursuit ended and the suspects fled on foot. With assistance from a K-9 unit, officers quickly tracked and apprehended all three suspectsThe Cash Tracker was recovered, along with the stolen money. The suspects, who were already known to law enforcement and have violent criminal histories, are also believed to be connected to multiple other robberies in the area.

 

Clothing Store – Oakland, CA – November 11

Full Recovery of $2,000+ and 2 Arrests

Two suspects targeted a clothing store in Oakland, stealing merchandise valued at $2,000, including items equipped with an ORC Tracker. The suspects fled the scene, but the tracker activated, providing law enforcement with real-time location updates. The tracker led officers to a stationary location, where two suspects were apprehended. During the arrest, police recovered two firearms in addition to the stolen merchandise. This operation resolved the theft and removed dangerous weapons from the community, contributing to a #SaferWorld.

 

Luxury Items Store – Plantation, FL – November 15

Full Recovery of $1,800+ 2 Arrests

Two suspects targeted a luxury goods store in Plantation, stealing merchandise valued at nearly $1,900, including items equipped with an Asset Tracker. The suspects fled the scene, and the tracker activated, providing real-time location updates to law enforcement. The tracker led officers to a stationary location in Miami, where both suspects were apprehended, and all the stolen merchandise was recovered. This case is part of an ongoing investigation into a larger organized retail crime crew.

 

Dollar Store – Houston, TX – November 19

1 Arrest

A suspect targeted a dollar store in Houston, stealing cash that included a concealed Cash Tracker. The suspect fled the scene, and the tracker activated, providing location updates to law enforcement. Law enforcement successfully apprehended the suspect, bringing the case to a close. 

 

Clothing Store – San Fransisco, CA – November 21

Full Recovery of $3,000+ and 1 Arrest

A suspect entered a San Francisco clothing store with the intention of stealing. They stole merchandise valued at $3,000 and several ORC Trackers before they fled the scene. The trackers activated as the suspect left, providing real-time location updates to law enforcement. The devices guided officers to the suspect’s location, where they were apprehended without incident. The stolen items were recovered and returned to the store. This arrest has been connected to multiple other felony thefts in the area, helping to close several cases tied to an organized retail crime network.

 

Convenience Store – Conception Bay South, NL – November 24

Full Recovery and 1 Arrest

A disguised suspect, armed with a tire iron, entered a convenience store in Conception Bay South and demanded cash and cigarettes while threatening the clerk. The suspect fled the scene with $112 in cash, over a dozen packs of cigarettes, and a Tobacco Tracker. The tracker activated upon the suspect’s departure, providing law enforcement with real-time location updates. Officers tracked the device to a nearby residence, where the homeowner granted them access. Inside, the tracker was located, along with the stolen money and cigarettes. The suspect was taken into custody. The officer in charge of the investigation was extremely impressed with the technology, stating it was his first time dealing with an activation and that it was “awesome.” The GPS saved them a lot of work as the suspect was disguised, and it led them right to him. 

 

Bank – Chilliwack, BC – November 27

Full Recovery and 1 Arrest

A suspect entered a bank branch in Chilliwack, approached a teller station, and presented a note demanding cash. The suspect fled the scene on foot after receiving cash and a concealed Cash Tracker. The tracker activated immediately, providing law enforcement with real-time location updates. Officers only had to track the suspect for seven blocks before making an arrest. A full recovery of the stolen cash is expected.
