STORY OF THE MONTH
Convenience Store – Calgary, AB – October 15
An armed suspect, disguised and wielding a handgun, entered a Calgary convenience store,threatened the clerk, and demanded cigarettes. After receiving several packs, including one with a 3SI Tobacco Tracker, the suspect fled the scene. Police, alerted by the tracker’s activation, immediately began pursuing the suspect’s movements with assistance from a K-9 unit. The tracker data led officers through a prolonged track, ultimately guiding them to the suspect’s location. Upon arrest, police recovered the stolen cigarettes and tracker, bringing the items back to the store. This operation not only secured the recovery but also concluded a series of robberies involving armed holdups at multiple retail locations over recent months. The police in their report, credited the 3Si tracking technology with playing a critical role in capturing this dangerous serial robber, removing a repeated threat from the community.

Luxury Items Store – Plantation, FL – October 11
Full Recovery of $1,000+ and 2 Arrests
Two suspects entered a luxury items store, and made off with stolen goods. A 3Si ORC Tracker taken with the stolen merchandise activated, allowing police to track the suspects’ movements until they stopped in a nearby location. Officers swiftly located and arrested both suspects at this spot, achieving a full recovery of the stolen goods. This case is connected to a larger organized retail crime (ORC) network, where suspects fulfill specific orders for stolen goods by targeting large retailers. The broader investigation, led by the Sheriff’s Office, has been supported by 3Si’s tracking technology, which has been key in identifying linked cases and additional suspects.
Athletic Apparel Store – Los Angeles, CA – October 12
Full Recovery of $1,600+ and 2 Arrests
Three suspects initially attempted theft at another store but left empty-handed. Thirty minutes later, they entered an athletic apparel store in Los Angeles, stealing thousands of dollars in merchandise, including a 3Si ORC Tracker among the stolen items, and fled in a vehicle with a waiting driver. Recognizing the group from previous incidents, the Retailer’s Organized Retail Crime (ORC) team provided law enforcement with the vehicle’s license plate, suspect images, and 3Si tracking data. The tracker led officers to a stationary location where police apprehended two suspects. The tracker and $1,600+ in merchandise were recovered and an ORC crime spree was ended.
Pharmacy – Atlanta, GA – October 15
2 Arrests and Recovery of Key Evidence
An armed suspect entered a pharmacy in Atlanta, stole goods that included a 3Si Cash Tracker, and fled in a vehicle with an accomplice. The tracker activated, allowing officers to follow its signal until it was discarded on a nearby highway, where it was later recovered by police and processed for evidence. The next morning, officers received a notification identifying the suspect’s vehicle parked outside a nearby bank. They coordinated with on-site units and approached the vehicle, finding the driver and a second individual inside the bank. Surveillance footage confirmed the second individual as the robbery suspect. After a confession, both suspects were detained without incident. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered evidence, including a handgun inside, which matched the weapon used in the robbery.
Bank – North Charleston, SC – October 16
Full Recovery of $2,100 and 3 Arrests
A lone male entered a bank in North Charleston, approached the teller station, displayed a firearm, and presented a note demanding cash. The teller complied, handing over the cash protected by a 3Si Cash Tracker. The suspect fled the location in a vehicle, possibly driven by an accomplice. The tracker immediately activated, enabling law enforcement to monitor the suspect’s route as he attempted to evade capture. The device led officers to a nearby location where police swiftly intercepted the suspect along with two associates. Their prompt response ensured the safe apprehension of all involved and prevented further danger to the public from an armed criminal. The firearm and all stolen cash were fully recovered, highlighting the effectiveness of 3Si’s tracking solution in bringing a swift, decisive end to a high-risk situation.
Telecommunications Store – Franklin, OH – October 20

Three suspects targeted a telecommunications store in Franklin, stealing $30,000 in merchandise, which included a 3Si Phone Tracker among the stolen items. Upon activation, the tracker provided real-time location data, enabling police to monitor the suspects’ movements. The device ultimately led officers to a stationary location where all three suspects were apprehended. The rapid response facilitated by the tracker ensured a complete recovery of the stolen items.
Dollar Store – Houston, TX – October 22
Full Recovery and 1 Arrest
At a dollar store in Houston, a suspect stole items, including tobacco products equipped with a 3Si Tobacco Tracker. Upon activation, the tracker allowed law enforcement to monitor the suspect’s location until it stopped at a nearby address. Officers quickly responded, apprehending the suspect and recovering all stolen items. This case underscores the effectiveness of 3Si’s Tobacco Tracker in swiftly aiding law enforcement to secure a full recovery.
Pharmacy – Oakville, ON – October 25
Full Recovery and 1 Arrest
A female suspect entered a pharmacy in Oakville, selected various items, including a tracked product, and left without paying for it. She exited the store and departed in her vehicle. Upon activation of the 3Si ORC Tracker, police followed the device’s signal, which led them to the suspect’s residence. Officers used the tracker to locate the stolen item within her vehicle, successfully apprehending the suspect. The stolen product was returned to the store, marking a complete recovery.
