STORY OF THE MONTH

Pharmacy – Des Moines, IA – January 18, 2025

Two suspects carried out a series of armed robberies across three pharmacy locations in just 30 minutes. At the final location, a 3Si Cash Tracker was included with the stolen cash. Police received real-time updates on the suspects’ movements, which led them to a local neighborhood. Both suspects were arrested within 10 minutes and charged with multiple counts of robbery and conspiracy. The investigation revealed that one suspect used a firearm provided by their accomplice. This case showcases how advanced tracking technology can end violent crime sprees swiftly and safely.

Electronics Store – Chicago, IL – January 6, 2025

5 Arrests

Five suspects burglarized an electronics store, stealing significant merchandise, including a 3Si ORC Tracker. The tracker activated, alerting law enforcement, who monitored the tracker’s movement until it became stationary. Acting on this information, officers secured a search warrant for the location. One suspect was arrested at the residence, and four additional suspects have been identified, with arrest warrants issued. A substantial portion of the stolen merchandise was recovered additionally.

 

Telecommunications Store – Long Beach, CA – January 6, 2025

Full Recovery of $30,000+ and 3 Arrests

Three suspects entered a telecommunications store, stealing $30,000 worth of high-value electronics, including a 3Si Phone Tracker. Police were alerted by the activation of the tracker and tracked the suspects’ movements until the right time to arrest. Officers responded swiftly, apprehending all three suspects at the location. Thanks to the real-time tracking data, law enforcement ensured the recovery of all stolen items.

 

Pharmacy – Baltimore, MD – January 7, 2025

Full Recovery of $20,000+ and 1 Arrest

A lone male suspect entered a pharmacy, approached the pharmacy counter, and implied he was armed with a handgun. The suspect demanded narcotics from the controlled substance safe and fled with several bottles, and a 3Si PharmaTracker. Officers tracked the suspect’s vehicle, which was later found abandoned. The vehicle had been stolen in a previous carjacking. The vehicle is being processed for forensic evidence, and police served a search warrant and recovered $20,000 in stolen narcotics.

 

Bank – Calgary, AB – January 13, 2025

1 Arrest

A male suspect carrying a bag entered a bank branch and verbally demanded $10,000 from the teller. The teller provided cash, including a 3Si Cash Tracker. The suspect attempted a second robbery at another bank. Police used tracking data and city cameras to track and identify the suspect. He was arrested shortly after the second attempted robbery.

 

Bank – Gambrills, MD – January 17, 2025

Full Recovery of $80,000

An ATM burglary at a bank involved multiple 3Si ATM Trackers and Cassette Trackers. Police believe multiple suspects were involved in accessing the ATM’s cash. Police were able to recover the cash, totaling $80,000. The other devices reported movement, providing valuable leads for law enforcement. The suspects remain at large, but the case progresses with strong evidence, positioning authorities for a successful resolution.

 

Clothing Store – Toronto, ON – January 18, 2025

Full Recovery of $1,000 and 1 Arrest

A suspect stole multiple items from a clothing store, including a 3Si ORC Tracker. Police monitored the tracker, tracing the suspect through the subway system. Officers located the suspect at a station where he was carrying multiple bags of stolen goods. A subsequent search uncovered $9,400 worth of stolen merchandise from various retailers, including alcohol and products from several major chains. The suspect had a history of shoplifting and had rented storage lockers at subway stations, where additional stolen items were discovered—an arrest, a full recovery, and solving additional retail crime, all with a 3Si ORC Tracker.

 

Athletic Apparel Store – Corona, CA – January 21, 2025

Full Recovery of $2,300 and 3 Arrests

Three suspects entered a clothing store and fled with $2,300 worth of merchandise, including a 3Si ORC Tracker, to a waiting vehicle driven by a fourth individual. Police quickly responded and tracked the suspect vehicle, where police patrol pulled the vehicle over and arrested all four suspects. The stolen items were fully recovered. This incident highlights the power of combining tracking technology with regional communication networks to stop organized retail crime operations.
